BASKET ANALYSIS: Part 1

A few things have been become clear in the last month or so that have impacted my job search.
1. My joy of teaching has returned.
2. As a result, I have decided to focus only on FT teaching jobs (something I was debating since I was feeling burnt out).

The good news is I think I know what I want. The challenge is, this limits what kind of jobs I can apply for. Specifically, this leaves me with not many options as a new academic school year approaches. But fear not...after some processing I realized that I do have at least four options...or should I say baskets, before me.

Basket 1: Get a full time position teaching ESL to adults in an intensive English program or community college.

Status: There is currently just one egg in this basket: the SIU position. But I’m hoping and praying for some last minute openings.

Questions: How long will I need to wait? How far will I need to go?

Basket 2: Continue teaching ESL with COD and get another PT position (20-25 hour a week) that offers benefits.

Status: Just in brainstorming stages

Questions: What places offer benefits to part timers?
Trader Joe’s? Whole Foods? (I'm not a Starbucks person) Any other suggestions?

Check back soon for Basket Analysis: Part 2.
